Introduction to Talk for Writing in the EarlyYears and KS1, developed by Pie Corbett and supported by Julia Strong, is powerful because it is based on how children learn and acquire language through play and learning stories. The day will explore the Talk for Writing teaching sequence in the context of EarlyYears and KS1. It will focus on how children in Nursery into KS1 begin by creating their own imaginative stories through play and ‘Invention’ as well as learning a range of well-known stories and and poems both orally and through developing their earlywriting skills. This then leads into children making up their own versions of stories and poems, modelled and supported through shared and guided writing.
