School Direct is a route into Initial Teacher Training that places the school based programme at the heart of the experience.

Wednesbury Teaching School Alliance works in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton to provide trainees with a programme that has been designed to ensure that our tranees are expertly trained to take up a post as an outstanding NQT. Our lead school is Harvills Hawthorn Primary School, which is the Teaching School.

What programme are we offering?

  • One-year School Direct Tuition Primary PGCE

What are we looking for?

  • Trainee teachers who are committed to transforming the lives of the pupils that they teach.
  • Trainee teachers that are passionate about working with young children and have the drive and ambition to be an outstanding and innovative practitioner.

What qualifications do I need?

  • A 2:1 or above at degree level (2:2 may be considered if there is a breadth of school experience)
  • A grade C / grade 4 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English, Maths and Science
  • Some experience in the classroom is preferable (paid or voluntary)
  • Sound knowledge of Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
  • Passed the Maths and English Skills tests before the programme begins

What qualification will I get?

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • A PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education)
  • 60 Master Level Credits
